For Korea, manufacturing is the backbone of economy. And the fact that manufacturing is fundamental to the economy will remain unchanged in the 21st century.
However, it is true that tides of change are sweeping the manufacturing industry. Consumer lifestyles and needs are today becoming increasingly diversified and individualized. Consequently, manufacturers are being compelled to become more user-oriented, and the manufacturing industry is changing to provide workers with an improved working environment, as it faces both manpower shortages and increasing numbers of senior employees. Furthermore, there is heightened concern for international coorperation and co-prosperity as well as the need to keep A check on damage to the global environment. In this rapidly changing industry, manufucturers are required to satisfy user needs and to quickly and flexibly meet demands such as the improvement of productivity and the assurance of consistent quality.
